"This year’s Malta Festival Poznań was centred around the dynamics of leap. “Leap of Faith” – the main subject of this year’s edition – encouraged reflections upon possible dimensions of this approach: risky leaps into admiration, beauty or fanaticism. We pondered over interactions between different beliefs and axiologies and the lines between division and understanding."
Textiles at the festival.
For the second time Dekoma was a partner of the festival, providing the organisers with over 300 metres of textiles that were later used to create the official bags and the installation in Plac Wolności (Freedom Square). Just as before, our goal was to support the biggest cultural event in Poznań and to promote the use of textiles in the public space.
Plac Wolności
Malta Generator is a socio-artistic initiative within the Malta Festival, whose aim is to oversee the festival campus located in Plac Wolności and initiate numerous events in the city of Poznań.For nine days of the festival, Plac Wolności – another key spot in the city after the Old Market Square – hosted meetings, plays, concerts, workshops and other artistic activities.
The architecture of the square has been designed by Starzak Strebiski Aterlier specialising in the analysis and creation of friendly, open and multifunctional public spaces. To date, the architects have transformed the courtyard of the Poznań City Hall and rearranged the Solidarność Esplanade located in front of the European Parliament building in Brussels. One of the constructions displayed in Plac Wolności is an openwork installation based on scaffolding components.
The designers chose blue, orange and green shades of the Dekoma Maga fabric as well as the elegant, white striped Dekoma Wangi to fill the space between the metal posts, creating a separated, intimate relaxation zone with an atrium in its centre.

Carrier bags
Once again designed and made in the Kuluza studio, which is located 30 metres from the office of the festival, the official carrier bags were local to the core. This year’s rucksacks and bum bags were made of the unique Dekoma Underground – a cotton fabric with a metallic imprint. The bags came in two colour variants: pink and graphite.
